At River Oak Dental, we know that not everyone is comfortable going to the dentist. Experts recommend getting a dental exam twice per year but it’s hard to get a lot of people to come even once. That’s why we’re a dental clinic that focuses on your satisfaction and peace of mind. We offer gentle and professional dental exams with your oral health and comfort in mind.
River Oak Dental is a family-owned, family dentistry office. We treat all of our patients, both young and wise, like our own family.
What happens during a bi-annual dental exam?
If you’re having anxiety about visiting the dentist, sometimes knowing what to expect can help ease that. Take a look below at what you can expect during your dental exam.
Here is what you can expect from a bi-annual dental exam.
- A dental assistant will meet with you and go over your medical history. They will also discuss any pain or other issues with you that you’re currently having (if any).
- During most exams, x-rays are completed at this point.
- Once your records have been updated, our dentist Dr. Liliana Marshall will come in to greet you before beginning the exam. During the exam, Dr. Marshall will check your dentition (the condition of your teeth), gum tissue, tongue, and jaw joints and muscles. An oral cancer screening will automatically be completed during this process as well. If x-rays were completed, the dentist will go over them with you.
- After the initial exam, a dental hygienist will thoroughly clean your teeth. During this time, they will also check for any further issues such as decay or gum recession. If any other issues are found during cleaning, the dentist will discuss treatment options with you.
While the dental exam is a very important part of your visit to our dental center, having your teeth professionally cleaned is just as vital.
